A Place of Our Own
This is the first time we have had a home of our own since our founding in 1989. As I watch the ferryboats chart their crossings from our new windows, I am reminded how far we have come in our journey as an organization.
The boxes I open are filled with the original letters, handwritten notes, memos, newspaper clippings, and pictures that highlight the history of this organization. Inside these files and folders are the stories of the courageous and committed individuals throughout this region who embrace our mission of promoting the understanding of biomedical research.
Hundreds and hundreds of people have been and remain involved in our work these many years. I am cognizant of the significant responsibility that we hold as we prepare ourselves to build on this legacy.
We have made tremendous progress in strengthening the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research in recent years. Our innovative education programs and expanded member services serve as a testament to this success. Whether you are a researcher, educator, ethicist, patient, high school Student Biotech Expo mentor or judge, Annual Dinner table captain or sponsor, it is your contribution that has brought us to this place
and time.
I want to especially acknowledge the people who serve on our planning and advisory committees. Every program described on these web pages was created because of the wise counsel and creative ideas we received from these dedicated individuals. NWABR’s programs stand at the intersection of research, education and ethics because of partnerships we are privileged to hold with you.
