The Youth Ethics Summit will bring together students from across the Puget Sound region to learn about topics related to ethics, medicine, and biomedical research that are of special relevance to young people. This
year’s summit will focus on pediatric bioethics and will feature clinicians and bioethicists leading discussions on the Ashley X case, the Dennis Lindbergh case, and other cases involving children and young adults. We will also screen a new film, Citizen Scientist, which traces the journey of a young patient and her family who seek treatment for a rare disorder in a research study. The Summit provides an opportunity for students from different schools to meet and to participate in discussions and presentations about ethics in science issues.
The summit is open to both middle and high school students. Teachers are also encouraged to attend the summit. In addition, students whose families are involved with the Institite of Translational Health Sciences or the Seattle Children's Hospital may also attend.
