How We Add Value for Our Members
NWABR is a connector. We partner with research leaders to build and sustain trustworthy practices by connecting them to colleagues across the Northwest whose resources and expertise strengthen our entire community. We stand together in promoting public understanding of research and its ethical conduct.
Who is the NWABR community? Our members come from academia, industry, health care and voluntary health organizations throughout the Northwest. We work with and for our members to strengthen public trust in research through education and dialogue.
Our members can count on us for:
Community engagement. We Influence public attitudes and support for research by:
- Bringing media together around a common message that reflects the priorities of our members
- Leveraging member stories and programs through our website and targeted communications
- Mobilizing volunteer scientists to support community events as judges, speakers and advocates
- Recruiting and placing community members on ethics review boards for animal and human research
Capacity building in the areas of research and ethics. These include:
- Convening the IACUC, IRB, and IBC communities
- Gatherings on the security and protection of all researchers with such partners as the FBI and the US Attorney’s offices
Strategic communications support to ensure the right spokespersons are prepared and ready to address critical issues that impact human and animal research. These include:
