Thank you for your willingness to judge the 2010 Student Bio Expo! This year will be an especially exciting time to be a part of this program as we celebrate of our tenth anniversary.

Whether this is your first or tenth year judging student projects, we appreciate your time and commitment in support of science education. The judging process has two aims; to provide all students with written feedback and to determine winning entries. In order to fulfill these aims, you will use the following process:

Each student is asked to submit both a hard copy and an electronic copy of his or her project. Note that not all students will have submitted both copies, and some projects on your spreadsheet may be missing entirely. If we have received a hard copy, it will be in your packet. For missing electronic copies, please check the above . Feel free to review additional projects in your category.

For Multimedia, Teaching and Drama/Dance categories, the electronic projects can be found on YouTube (www.YouTube.com). To view them, sign in to YouTube as follows:

Username: bioexpo2010;

Password: bioexpo2010.

Once logged in, click on the bioexpo2010 drop down menu on the top right. Select “My Videos”. There, you will find a list of all the Expo projects uploaded. You may also view the playlists (on the left) to find your specific judging category.

4) Use a Judging Feedback Form for each student's project
Note - see last page of Judging Criteria above for Judging Feedback Forms for each Category.

Blank copies of these blue forms are included along with your student projects. These sheets will be returned to students, so please consider your tone carefully and focus on constructive comments. Use CHECK MARKS only, do NOT use numerical scores. Bring these forms to prejudging; most judges find it is helpful to have written as many comments as possible before prejudging begins. We will collect these at the Expo after the judging sessions and distribute them to students. If you cannot attend the prejudging session or the Expo for any reason, it is imperative that these completed forms are returned to NWABR.

5) Fill out a Summary Scoring Form for projects that are possible award contenders

This green form is for your own internal use. By summarizing student scores on the Summary Scoring Form, student project rankings can be shared between judges. Students will not see this form. It is only necessary to score those projects that you feel other judges should also consider (i.e. projects may be eligible for an honorable mention or higher). However, many judges like to complete the information for all their projects.

ANNUAL NWABR FUNDRAISING LUNCHEON:

As an Expo judge, you will be provided a ticket to attend the NWABR luncheon held in the Ballroom at Meydenbauer Center on the day of the Expo. The Expo schedule has been adjusted so that the public attending the luncheon will have a chance to see students with their projects, and judges will have a chance to take part in the luncheon. In addition to celebrating the Expo’s 10-year anniversary, we will hear from former Expo students and learn how this unique program has impacted their lives. It should be a fun event!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or email. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
