bulletWerner's Syndrome is a rare disorder because of its autosomal recessive mode of inheritance.  In the United States, it is estimated that one in every million people are affected by the disorder.  The highest concentration of Werner's Syndrome resides in Japan, with over 800 known cases.
 
bulletWerner's Syndrome is not limited by racial boundaries and affects all races equally, despite the concentration on Japan.
 
bulletWerner's Syndrome affects both sexes equally
 
bulletWerner's Syndrome patients have an average life-span of 46 years.
 
bulletWerner's Syndrome usually begin during puberty.
