



This glossary has been set up to explain terms that I have decided that you might want to know, just so you can understand what I wrote or if the term is commonly used to explain TSC. Angiofibromas -- (n.) discolored bumps on the skin that look somewhat like acne but instead are benign tumors.
Benign -- (adj.) Not recurrent or progressive; not malignant: a benign tumor.
Collagen -- (n.) The fibrous protein constituent of bone, cartilage, tendon, and other connective tissue. It is converted into gelatin by boiling.
Dental -- (adj.) Of, relating to, or for the teeth.
Dermal -- (adj.) Of or relating to the skin.
Echocardiogram -- (n.) A sonogram of the heart and surrounding tissues.
Fibroma -- (n.) A benign tumor that consists of fibrous or connective tissue.
Fluoresce -- (v.) To undergo, produce, or show fluorescence.
Hypopigmented -- (adj.) Under-colored.
Inherit -- (v.) To receive (a characteristic) from one's parents by genetic transmission.
Lesion -- (n.) A localized change in a bodily organ or tissue relating to or caused by disease.
Macule -- (n.) A spot on the skin, generally where the coloring is supposed to be even.
Malefice -- (n.) An evil deed; enchantment.
Mutation -- (n.) A change in the DNA sequence that creates a trait not found in parents
Neural -- (adj.) Of or relating to a nerve or the nervous system.
Renal -- (adj.) Of, relating to, or in the region of the kidneys.
Retina -- (n.) The tissue at the back of an eye that recieves light and translates it to neural impulses.
Sonogram -- (n.) An image of and internal organ by use of reflecting sound waves off of it; an ultrasound.Spontaneous -- (adj.) Happening or arising without apparent external cause; self-generated.
Suppress -- (v.) To curtail or prohibit the activities of. (suppressor -- (n.))
Tomography -- (n.) Any of several techniques for making detailed x-rays of a predetermined plane section of a solid object while blurring out the images of other planes.
Triad -- (n.) A group of three.
Ungual -- (adj.) Of or relating to fingernails or toenails.
