Mentorship Experience
As a part of our biotech expo experience, we were matched up with mentors specializing in medicine to art, depending on the nature of our project. My mentor, Zhantao Yang, provided me with guidance, direction, ideas, and knowledge. We met face to face once at the Auditorium in the University of Washington, and communicated through e-mail. His contribution to my project was valuable.
I find that one of the hardest things about any project that involves research is decoding scientific, clinical, or technical language. Luckily, I had Mr. Yang to help me through the more difficult passages of my readings; he put things in simpler terms that I could understand. He was always willing to answer any questions I had. Also, he offered many helpful hints and suggestions where it concerned the design and usability of my website. Having him as a resource definitely made my expo experience a bit easier and more engaging.
