EFFECTS OF BIODIESEL
Making the switch from petroleum diesel to biodiesel could initiate a great change for our nation as well as our environment. It's just a simple decision as to what sort of fuel you use to power your car, or other things that require fuel. It can start with one person using deciding to try biodiesel. In turn, others might try it also, and the numbers might keep rising. Soon a majority of the nation will be using biodiesel. The power in the numbers of people and their small decision to switch to biodiesel can have pronouced effects on our world.on our world.
In terms of our nation, we can start building a more indepedent economy since most of the crops used for biodiesel are already grown in the United States. By using less and less petroleum, economic activity will shift from importing petroleum from overseas to becoming self-sufficient. As biodiesel gets used more and more frequently, the need for the mass production of biodiesel will be neccessary. Opening biodiesel plants could potentially open doors for new job opportunities.
As for the environment, since biodiesel is produced using natural materials, it differs from petroleum in that biodiesel is generally renewable. It has been found to be less toxic than salt, and biodegrades just as quickly as sugar. Not only that, but biodiesel can slow down the effects of global warming. Compared to regular petroleum fuel, biodiesel produces about 78% less carbon into the atmosphere.
