The Northwest Association for Biomedical Research
is delighted to announce that Francis S. Collins, MD, PhD, Director
of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National
Institutes of Health, will engage us with his vision of "Genomics
and Our Shared Future" at our upcoming Annual Dinner. He will also
present our Dr. Alvin J. Thompson Award to local researchers Maynard
Olson, Bob Waterston, Phil Green, Lee Rowen, Debbie Nickerson and
LaDeana Hillier, whose breakthrough discoveries in genome sequencing
led to the completion of the Human Genome Project: The international
effort to determine the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base
pairs that make up human DNA.
2004 Annual
Dinner Guests
The
Honorable Christine Gregoire, Governor of Washington, will present
our Outstanding Partner in Education Award to Laurie Odegaard, a
high school science teacher whose extraordinary dedication to inspiring
the next generation has generated a deeper understanding of the
role of biomedical research and its impact on our lives. Annual
Dinner attendees are invited to host teachers, students and mentors
from NWABR's Student Biotech Expo at their tables - fostering thoughtful,
intergenerational dialogue between the present and future bioscience
communities.

Winner of NWABR's 2005 Outstanding Partner in Education Award
Join us celebrate a milestone evening for research and education.
Proceeds from the event will directly support NWABR's highly regarded
education programs.
