Donald Wang

Donald Wang has been the Director of Environmental Health and Safety at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center since 2008.  He received a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Minnesota and Bachelor of Science degrees in Microbiology and Environmental Health from the University of Washington.

Mr. Wang has been involved in biosafety for 25+ years.  He is a Registered and Certified Biosafety Professional with the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) International and with the National Registry of Certified Microbiologists (NRCM) in Biological Safety from the American Society for Microbiology.  Currently Mr. Wang is the Board Chair on ABSA International for credentialing biosafety professionals.

Mr. Wang’s biosafety experience includes working at the University of Washington as the only Biosafety Officer from 1986-90; at the Bristol-Myer Squibb Company in Princeton, NJ from 1990-2000, where he was pivotal in setting up their initial biosafety program; from 2000-2008 he worked at ZymoGenetics and then at an animal biopharmaceutical company (Merial) in Athens, Georgia.

Mr. Wang has also served or is serving on several Institutional Biosafety Committees: at the University of Washington, University of Georgia, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and at the Center of Infectious Disease Research Center.

NWABR welcomes Mr. Wang to the NWABR Board class of 2016.
