Q: When does the Early Bird registration end?

April 30, 2017 will be the last day for discounted campership fee. 

Early bird discount saves each camper $75.

Q: What kind of financial assistance is available?

We have 25 spots with full tuition assistance , following that , NWABR offers assistance upto 50% of the tuiton fees. Visit our Campership Financial Assistance page for additional details.  If you have additional questions, reach out to camp@nwabr.org.

MemBership

Q: What if the parent is part of NWABRs member organizations?

If a parent works for or is affiliated with a member organization, students receive memberships benefits and save $75 on regular camp fees.

Email camp@nwabr.org if you have questions on parent’s membership with any of NWABR’s member organizations. 

Q: What does the student receive for becoming a member?

Student membership allows students to be part of the NWABR network.  This includes attending future events (in addition to Camp BIOmed) at a discount, news about our member organizations and involvement in our strong network of biomedical research organizations. Any events NWABR sponsors will have discounts (i.e. Bio Expo).

Q: How do I become a member?

When registering for any of the camps, you will have the option to become a member at the end of the registration process.  Be sure to check 'Yes' if you are interested in becoming a member!

Students who register for camp after early bird registration will automatically receive NWABR membership.

Q: How much does membership cost?

Membership costs are below:

- Students - $25

- Teachers - $35

- Parents and other individuals - $55 for individual; $75 for couples

 

There are additional opportunities for your school if they are interested in becoming an organizational member.  If this is something your school may be interested in, please contact Mansi Kaushik at camp@nwabr.org.

 

Q: What is our refund policy?

 

To save a spot for yourself, please make a deposit of $100, out of which $50 is non-refundable. Any cancellations before April 30, 2017 will result in a refund of any deposit other than non-refundable fee of $50.

Cancellations between April 30, 2017 and June 15, 2017 will result in a deduction of $100 from the entire deposit.

No refunds will be issued after the registration closes, i.e. June 15, 2017.  

 

Camp Logistics

Q: What is the time commitment for a student signing up for a camp?

Each camp session runs for one week (Monday-Friday).  Students will be in camps from 9 am to 3 pm each day. 

On Friday of each week, a culminating expo is available for students to share their weeks’ projects with family and friends from 1PM to 3PM.

Q: When are the camps?

The camps will be offered for six weeks from July 11 to August 19. Below are the specifics on when each camp is offered:

Q: What grades are eligible for each camp? 

9th - 12th grade

Students should be entering in the 9 grade in fall - i.e., students currently in grade 8 but entering into 9th grade in fall 2017

Q: Where are the camps held?

All the camps are held at In the Eaton Hall laboratory of Seattle Pacific University, located at 339 W Bertona Street, Seattle WA 98119 , Room #322.  Here is a link to directions: http://spu.edu/info/maps/directions.asp  There is street parking available outside university. On this campus map (http://spu.edu/info/maps/index.asp), Eaton Hall is building #25. I'd recommend parking in either lot #48 or #51. You can park in any commuter spot, as parking is open during the summer. Just know that any reserved spot is reserved year-round

Q: When is the culminating expo held?

Every Friday (the end of the week for each camp), a culminating expo is held from 1 PM to 3PM at McKenna Hall, Room #111 locate at 350 W Bertona Street , Seattle WA 98119

Q: Who will be instructing the camp?

Wendi Russac, M.S., will be the instructor for Cancer Laboratory and basics of Biology and Kimberly McClur, Phd will be instructing Genetic Engineering and Next Gen Science - Origami of Life with Bioinformatics. Recruitment for CSI is underway.

Q: How many spots are available in each camp?

Each camp session will have approximately 14 students enrolled per track. A waitlist will be created after the camp becomes full.

Q: Will the students need to bring anything with them?

Lunch, if not purchased, and a laptop.  All the other necessary supplies for the projects during the camp will be provided by NWABR!
